The JACOMO Chorale
2011-2012
Spring Concert
The JACOMO Chorale will be joining those who sing at the Lansing State prison
under the direction of Kirk Carson, a member of the "Ole, Music and Dance of
Spain" group. There will be two performances on Sunday, April 22, 2012 and again
on Sunday, May 6, 2012. See the home page for details.

The JACOMO Chorale with
The Bountiful String Quartet
The 28th season opened for the Chorale with the performance of Franz Schubert's
MASS no. 2 in G major. The Bountiful String Quartet, along with our
pianist, Ms Velma Tyson, joined the Chorale to performed a truly
wonderful piece of music from 1815 by a composer but 18 years old. After the
intermission, the Chorale was priviledged to have in the audience Dana Mengel
of Independence as the Chorale sang music that he composed. His music
is both uplifting and inspirational, often conveying a message of gratitude for

F ebruary 12th -
the Knife & Fork Club performance at 7:30 p.m. at the RDLS Auditorium.
The
JACOMO Chorale sang the National Anthem, February 19th at the Independence
Events Center at 7:05 p.m. to a sold out crowd of 5,800 hockey fans. This makes
the largest group of people that the Chorale has sung in front of. The Chorale
sold enough tickets to where our own Cathy Porter was able to ride the zamboni
in between the 2nd & 3rd period of the game. The win came down to the last two
minutes of the game the Missouri Mavericks scored three goals to win the game

Season's Greetings
Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 6 p.m.
A wonderful christmas concert has been planned with music that
will touch your heart and make you remember all those songs we have all sung for
years. Along with the program, we have very talented members that will be
singing solos, quartets, and small groups of beautiful christmas songs. We take this time to invite everyone to
our "Season's Greetings", and
don't miss out on this outstanding choral group. We are entering the season of
"good tidings" and hope that you will come in and enjoy this locally talented
group of wonderful singers.
Stomp and Sway with Me
October 23, 2010 @ 7:30 p.m.
Performance at: Ridgewood/Pleasant Heights Community of Christ Church. An
evening of Spanish and Latin American music. Special group guest appearing:
"Ole, Music and Dance of Spain" with guest singer Kirk Carson.
A wonderful multicultural concert is planned with music that
touches Brazilian Arts through dance, song, and percussion; songs sung in
Portuguese, some "Bossa-nova" in English, and a number songs in Spanish
and Latin American. We take this time to invite everyone to "come join us", and
don't miss out on this exciting challenge to our group.

On October 2nd of this year, the JACOMO Chorale was once again
honored to be asked to participate in a week long ceremony of the “Wall That
Heals” held at the Burr
Oaks Park
in Blue Springs,
MO. There were at least four members of the Chorale that
was registered as Vietnam
veterans and was given a special medal, map of Vietnam, and a certificate of thanks by those
who worked at the “Wall that Heals”. The Chorale sang patriotic songs throughout
the ceremony. It was a moving moment for all who attended that evening for the
events.

On Friday, August 27th 2010, the JACOMO Chorale was honored to
perform their World War II songs for the USS Chester reunion that was held at
the Hilton Hotel up near the Kansas City

2009 - 2010
T he JACOMO Chorale performed a festive
yuletide Christmas songs at the Bass Pro Shop, Saturday, December 5th 2009 @ 7
p.m. Come hear favorite Christmas carols that you grew up with. We will be

Dr. Helena Vasconcellos has brought to this
concert a compliation of different kinds of music the range from the serious
classics to the songs you can tap your toes to. The JACOMO Chorale is
looking forward to having you join us to where your spirits are lifted,
where hope and joy is restored to your soul. The Chorale invites you to come
and listen to an outstanFirst night of rehearsals will be Thursday
evening @ 7 p.m., August 27, 2009 at the Mission Woods Community of Christ
Church and the corner of Duncan Road and Saunders in Blue Springs.
2008-2009
"Choral Americana"
The JACOMO Chorale
performed it's spring concert at the Liberty St. Community of Christ just off of the
Independence Square on May 30th at 7 pm. They performed classical
music that have become classics and then brought down the house with music from
World War II. There was a good attendance and enjoyment was had by all.
Gloria Mengel Benefit Concert
Thank You for your HELP
- Volunteers sang Dana Mengel's music (free-lance
composer/violinist & father) with the JACOMO Chorale on Saturday, March 14,
2009, 7:00 pm at the Community of Christ - Stone Church (Lexington at River
in Independence). The benefit was a complete success. All of the music was composed and written by
Dana Mengel where he is currently the Music Director at Messiah
Lutheran Church in Independence, MO, where he lives with his wife, Tammy,
and two children.
Christmas Concert 2008
The JACOMO Chorale joined up with REZOUND (hand bells) to give a dual Christmas concert on
December 13, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Blue Springs, MO.
